What is Conflict of Nations?

Conflict of nations
A Massive multiplayer Online Grand Strategy Game set in Modern Era

Introduction

Commander, Welcome to Conflict of Nations: Modern War!

Building upon our successes with Thirty Kingdoms and Supremacy 1914, Conflict of Nations: Modern War takes real-time military strategy into the modern era, specifically into the globalized late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Less than a century ago the battles of World War II were fought in fields, cities, and most famously on beaches; they consisted of large formations of clearly identifiable troops who would attack and defend in an effort to conquer large areas of territory. Victory often went to the side who could concentrate the most amount of fire on the target, in the shortest amount of time.

These days are gone.

Modern warfare hinges on Technology’s ability to coordinate small, specialized, and efficient Units. Modern warfare takes less and less place in open fields : it is orchestrated in congested cities alongside a civilian population. Granted, weaponry has improved, but largely, modern warfare revolves around information technology’s ability to coordinate what has become known as a theater of operations- a strategic military battlespace which includes land, air, sea, and space environments.

Weapons have changed. Where armies were racing for firepower, bigger guns, and heavier shells, they now race for precision, and intel. Who sees the other first, and delivers the optimal payload, wins - Luttwak

One Goal : World Domination

Diplomacy Screen
You will have many rivals and foes before your victory. Allies as well

Conflict of Nations (CON for short) allows for several types of maps, with special rules (Public Games, Private Games, Challenges, Tournaments), but they all exist on a simple premise. Dominate the world. You are the military commander of an entire nation, competing against an exceedingly competent AI, and, more ruthless, other human players in maps of 26,45,60,100 players !

You will, through Economy, build new economical Buildings to improve your production, and be able to research better units, product better ones, or to the contrary, go full Red Army by fielding the largest army mankind has ever witnessed.

You will, through Research, develop new Units of War, starting from the early cold war to the tools of modern warfare, to defend yourself or to bend the other nations to your will.

You will, through Military, command Ground Units, Air Units, Sea Units, and Strategical Units in real-time, using your tactics to overwhelm the enemy and claim their cities. And if they still resist, unleash upon them the nuclear fire.

If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky. That would be like the splendour of the Mighty One...I am become Death, The shatterer of worlds.
- Oppenheimer, quoting the Bhagavad Gita

You will, through Diplomacy, negotiate alliances, treaties, engage in tricky plots and engage your country in Coalitions, to shape the world together at your image.

Maps with a Huge scale

The World map where up to 60 players can compete for world domination

The game map is based on NASA high resolution imagery, resulting in unprecedented detail of the global Battlefield. Mountains of research went into geographic details, technical information, and of course, into the selection of, and the representation of the nations themselves. This being said, early-on we decided to let game-design rule over realism, providing a “sandbox” game rather than a political simulation. We are convinced that you will agree with our decision once you start conquering the world as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Vietnam, or Columbia.

As a player you can approach world domination in a variety of ways: individually, collaboratively alongside other individuals grouped in an alliance; conventionally or unconventionally. As a commander you might want to gather resources, or perhaps, as Japan you decide to focus upon establishing strong alliances with China and your neighboring nations of the Indochinese Peninsula. Are you an aggressive offensive warmonger, perhaps? We have a few of those around... Each playable country offers a different set of variables to consider, and potentially, each one of them has an equal opportunity to conquer the world.

The possibilities are endless.

And, should playing in real-time prove too slow or too anxiety provoking for you initially, as a player you are encouraged to command simultaneous games.

Diplomacy and CoN NEWS (CON)

  • The denunciation of Gold, Security Council Memberships, and other Premium Accounts is not permitted and leads to an immediate one-time warning in any game. It should be understood that the use of Gold is an explicit part of the game, and is NOT a form of cheating.
  • In Chat or Forum we do not allow harmful, abusive, vulgar, racist, ethnically dubious, or otherwise harmful posts that have the effect of harassing other players.

CON News and Chat

  • The naming or denunciation of users /players which (allegedly) exploit bugs or other inconsistencies is not permitted, as this can lead to (often unjustified) accusations. Likewise, publishing player blacklists or links to such lists is prohibited. This could lead to the rule breaker been REMOVED from the ROUND.
  • We do not condone advertising for commercial sites.

Multi Accounts

  • The use of more than one account is strictly prohibited. As stated clearly in Conflict of Nations: Modern War's

Terms of Service:

4.3 Each Participant may register for and use one Account only. Registering for and using multiple accounts is strictly prohibited (so-called “multi-accounts”). Breach of this clause may lead to the immediate exclusion of the Participant from the game.

  • If you are found to be using more than one account you will be removed from a round and could lose all accounts.

NOTE: It should be noted that violations of criminal laws in the internet are also subject to prosecution and can be brought to the police.

WolfPacking

  • It is not allowed to overstep the position of Game Admin to get new allies into the game during an ongoing conflict with other active players. It is also forbidden to join a game just to gain excessive advantage or to damage another player.

Currently the Wolfpacking rule means the following:

  • It is not allowed for players to invite friends to help them out (if slots are still available)
  • It is not allowed to join games just to help someone out.
  • Players that violate this rule will be removed from the respective games.

Game Creation/Ending

  • In Game Creation, the Game Title must not contain any rulebreak (can be found above) in both title and description. If needed, a game creator can be removed from the round and all description settings changed.

To End a Game there are 4 possible ways:

  • Victory Points (VP) total for victory are reached.
  • Retire Option is selected by remaining active players in a round (becomes available when 3 or fewer players remain active)
  • Where ALL active players in a map post in the CONN that they agree for a round to be ended (must NOT be done Anonymously).
  • Alliance Match Both Alliance leaders post in World Herald that they agree to have a round/game ended.

Foreign Language (Non English)

  • The use of foreign languages in the World Herald, Diplomacy, Game Title and Description including Conflict of Nation: Modern War Alliances IS ALLOWED unless it breaks our rules and Terms of Service, then it is a rulebreak and will be treated as such!

Replacing Players

Within a Round:

  • The support team is NOT obliged to remove or replace players from a round. If a player goes inactive, then it is the Game Administers role to remove the inactive player and free up slots for new players to join.

Within an Alliance Round, there are three options available:

  • The player to be replaced will need to be inactive or make a ticket saying he agrees to be replaced.
  • Both Alliance leaders agree to remove player from game if he has been inactive to replace with another active user.
  • The game Admin uses his Game Admin ability to remove inactive player(s)

Privacy

  • Publishing private correspondence between members of CoN support teams and users is strictly forbidden! This also applies to private communication between users. If you want to make a private message accessible to the public, the consent of both participants is required.

The Role of the Game Operators

  • Players are absolutely required to follow instructions from Game Operators!
  • Game Operators have the right to penalize rule breaks. This can result in the removal of all articles and messages and of the banning or removal of a player from a game.
  • A Player is banned after receiving a second warning for a minor offense and choosing to ignore it, and with regards to a major offense, without warning.
  • In serious rule breaks involving rude or vulgar behaviour, accused Player accounts WILL BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY. (Warnings will be given if the circumstances allow).
  • Warnings are given clearly, and state the rule break and subsequent reason for the ban. They shall be made by an Ingame Private Message, both to your CoN account and to your registered email address.
  • Should Game Operators overstep their roles in the community, affected users can complain to the Senior Game Operator. If the user has further complaints, these can be addressed by contacting the Main Administrator. If an issue is still ongoing you can contact the Community Co-ordinator via PM, and/or the Forum PM, or by sending in a support ticket.
  • If then there is still a need for clarification, players can always contact one of the Community Managers with your complaint via PM/forum conversation or by making a support ticket.

Annexation of Cities

Annexation is the political transition of land from one country to that of another. This transition results in the complete removal of rights, control, and ownership of the defined territory.

In CoN you have different province types;

  • Homeland City
  • Homeland Province
  • Occupied Province.
  • Occupied City.
  • Annexed City.

Homeland City

Homeland cities are the provinces that both produce resource and allow troop mobilization. These are your main provinces and you can both build any building (except outposts) and mobilize any unit if you have the requirements for the troop unit in place.

Homeland Province

Homeland Provinces are a part of your nation, they produce some manpower and cash. They also produce limited resources in some not all provinces. You cannot build or mobilize here like Homeland Cities, you can build outposts, local industry, naval wharf, airfield, military logistics and field hospitals

Occupied Provinces

These are the homeland provinces of ANOTHER nation, which you have occupied. These provinces are similar to your Homeland Provinces in that you only produce limited cash and manpower, cannot build normal buildings, only outposts and you cannot mobilize your military.

Occupied Provinces CANNOT be Annexed.

Occupied Cities

These are the major cities of another nation that you have occupied. Here they will produce resources, cash and manpower al limited as they are occupied.

Occupied Cities CAN be Annexed.

Annexed Cities

These are the occupied cities you have control of but you have annexed them, after annexation they become one of your cities, meaning you can build and mobilize your armies, construct buildings, resource production rises and most importantly the chances of uprisings fall as the people are your loyal subjects.

Note: Annexation time states 12hrs, BUT morale has an important factor to play here, the higher the occupied cities morale the shorter the annexation time, the lower the morale the longer the annexation time.
