Motorised Infantry

Description
Motorised infantry are a light infantry unit with a natural advantage at defending cities. When used on the offensive, they often lack firepower compared to other units in CON, therefore it is advisable not to send them in alone. Used defensively with structures such as bunkers, which grant additional defensive modifiers, this unit is a reliable and affordable choice that holds its own against all ground units.
Beware of this unit’s vulnerability to artillery fire. However, since missiles conventionally focus on armored damage, infantry is less exposed to missile damage than armored units. The same applies to chemical and nuclear missiles, once the NBC upgrade has been researched for Motorised Infantry.
Infantry can become a major nuisance for your opponents during late-game, that proves surprisingly annoying for hostile helicopters and strike fighters to clear out if they are not sufficiently upgraded. This infantry will act as the pawns in your army, flexible to many situations as long as they are supported strategically and tactically.
Features
This unit has the following features on its final tier:
- Unlocked with Day 1 Research: Conquer Territory - Unit can conquer provinces/cities once it reaches their center-point.
- Unlocked with Day 1 Research: Airlift - This unit can be transported between airports/landing strips via airlift. Note that it is completely defenseless while in the air.
- Unlocked with Day 17 (Western), 14 (Eastern), or 16 (European) Research: Limited WMD Protection - Unit is better protected when attacked by missiles armed with chemical/nuclear warheads.

History
Motorized infantry is the first stage towards the mechanization of an army. Civilian trucks are readily adaptable to military uses of transporting soldiers, towing guns, and carrying equipment and supplies. This greatly increases the strategy mobility of infantry units, which would otherwise rely on marches or railroads. In practice, armies have found it advantageous to develop trucks to military specifications, such as all-wheel drive, to have vehicles that function reliably in extreme weather conditions and terrain.
These units are proficient at holding strategic targets, such as towns or cities, as well as performing scouting missions and support operations. They are a highly flexible and adaptable unit, able to perform a variety a tasks and roles.
Western Doctrine
Eastern Doctrine
The Russian Kolun transport unit is large. Admittedly not as mobile or speedy as its American and EU counterparts, this vehicle was designed as a combat transport vehicle for the 21st century. Weighing in at 9 tons the Kolun is focused on providing landmine and bullet protection for up to sixteen personnel.
European Doctrine
Defined as a light armored recon vehicle but essentially a tank on wheels, the EU LGS Fenek is anything but light. As standard, it is armored against 7.62 mm rounds, and should the mission demand, it is fully capable of being mounted with additional armour. If chemical, biological, or even nuclear attack is headed your way, the air conditioning system will provide refuge for the driver, operator, and gunner.
