The Mobile Surface-to-Air Missile Launchers such as the AN/TWQ-1 Avenger depicted below, provide mobile, medium-range air defense protection against advancing low-flying aircraft such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV’s) and fixed-wing fighters. Incorporating a radar system which detects air, ground, and naval units, they are also effective against cruise missiles. They are capable of air assault as well as strategic airlift.

Western Mobile SAM - MIM-23 Hawk
Eastern Mobile SAM - 9K35 Strela-10
European Mobile SAM - Ozelot

The Mobile Surface-to-Air Missile Launchers provide mobile, medium-range air defense protection against Missile systems and fixed-wing fighters. Incorporating a radar system which detects air, ground, and naval units, they are also effective against cruise missiles. They are capable of air assault as well as strategic airlift, the latter being essential if you intend on spreading your cities far and wide.

Features

This unit has the following features on its final tier:

  • Unlocked with Day 3 Research: Radar - Unit can detect air, ground, and naval units. Eastern doctrine gains access to this earlier.
  • Unlocked with Day 3 Research: Ranged Anti Air - This unit can engage hostile aircraft that enter its AA envelope. Eastern doctrine gains access to this earlier.
  • Unlocked with Day 16 Research: Airlift - This unit can be transported between airports/landing strips via airlift. Note that it is completely defenseless while in the air. Eastern doctrine gains access to this earlier.
  • Unlocked with Day 20 Research: Air Assault - Unit can move/attack by using helicopters. When you give the Air Assault command, the unit will board a helicopter and move to the target location by air. If you are attacking a hostile unit, your unit’s first combat tick is executed from the air, i.e. as a helicopter attack. Eastern doctrine gains access to this earlier.
